Camden Jobs and Skills Event

We recently attended the Good Work Camden Jobs and Skills Event in London where we engaged with the public about a career in Residential Childcare.

The event is open to the community and is a chance for jobseekers to meet with numerous employers from a variety of industry sectors to find out about new careers and opportunities.

Alongside Area Camden were hiring managers from employers such as ALDI, Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs, and a range of NHS and healthcare employers.

Staff representing Area Camden at the event included Joanne Capuano, Operations Director, Lina, Head of Care, as well as Managers Tasmin, Monet and Amy, who were able to share their experiences and career journeys with attendees who were interested in pursuing a career in Residential Childcare.

Tasmin joined us in 2014 as a Residential Childcare Support Worker. Over the years, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication and care, progressing to the roles of Senior Support Worker and Deputy Manager. Today, Tasmin proudly serves as a Registered Manager, overseeing a home dedicated to the care of four young people.

Similarly, Monet joined Area Camden in 2014, initially as an Administrator. With her strong work ethic, attentive nature and attention to detail, she transitioned into a Quality Assurance role before taking on the position of Placements Manager. In 2021, Monet achieved another significant milestone by becoming a Registered Manager.

Amy joined the Area Camden residential care team as a Senior Residential Support Worker where she brought with her a wealth of previous experience and skills in care. She progressed to Deputy Manager, and is now also a Registered Manager for one of our residential homes, providing a high level of care for vulnerable young people.

Joanne Capuano, Operations Director, said: “We had a great footfall throughout the day, with lots of interest and engagement from the local community. It was brilliant to be able to share how rewarding working in Residential Childcare can be, and what a difference we can make to the lives of young people!”
